In this chapter, we learned about Amazon RDS and its supported database engines as Amazon Aurora, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server. Amazon RDS is a managed service, which helps the user to easily create and operate the database infrastructure. We can provide a secured access using the database supported user management and also configure IAM to access the database. We have an option to create the DB instance with Multi-AZ enabled, which will help us to configure highly available database for production workload. Also, we can set-up the automated backup and version upgrades by defining a specific time in which you don't have much workload on the database.
