Working through Drum Programming and Arrangements
FL Studio, with its user-friendly interface, is regarded by many as one of the best software options for drum programming. Even those who are completely new to music production can easily navigate FL Studio and program drum beats and patterns. One of my favorite parts of producing in FL Studio is the ease of use and flexibility of drum programming in the Channel Rack.
Back in the early days of hip hop and rap production, almost all drum programming was done using a music production computer (MPC), keyboard, or touchpad hardware. With the advent of FL Studio, this was revolutionized for the sake of being experimental and providing a quick workflow. Now, don’t get me wrong, there is a certain feel or vibe to touching pads when creating drum loops; it gives a quasi-live feel to it and it isn’t quantized as perfectly as using the Channel Rack, but you would require a ton of practice to properly make use of the hardware...
