In recent years, we have seen a growth in audio- and video-based content publishing compared to full text-based content publishing. Podcasting is a way of providing a series of audio files through a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed, whereby users can subscribe to new episodes. Podcasting is popular in WordPress due to the simplicity and availability of extensive features in the post-publishing process.
In podcasting, we need to host the audio or video files to let users view and download them. We can either self-host the files on the same site or use a specialized podcasting platform such as Buzzsprout, Captivate, or Simplecast, where the files will be hosted externally.
In this recipe, we are going to use a free plugin to create podcasts in WordPress, and self-host the files on the same server.
