Introduction


The vShield suite comprises of several components that provide additional security to the standard vCenter managed environment. These virtual appliances are aimed at protecting against attacks, misconfiguration, and misuse while achieving and maintaining compliance of the virtual datacenter.

vShield currently comprises of the following components:

  • vShield App

  • vShield Edge

  • vShield Endpoint

  • vShield Data Security

vShield Manager is a prerequisite virtual appliance required to manage each of these components on a single vCenter Server. Multiple instances of vShield App, vShield Edge, vShield Endpoint, and vShield Data Security can be managed from a single vShield Manager appliance. Installing and configuring vShield is a multistep process that needs be followed in order to ensure correct functionality.
