In fact, being creative is an incredibly important skill to have as a manager. With this new position you find yourself in, you need to be flexible and adaptable, and, at times, be able to create something out of nothing, such as having to invent solutions to problems that others may have simply not even seen.
Your role now is to focus on generating ideas to inspire and motivate your team, who may be thinking that they've seen it all. That may not be the definition of being creative that you had in mind, but as a manager, your job is now supporting, empowering, and enabling others to not only write more code but to write better code.
