Summary

This chapter taught you about the defining platform principles and how to develop your platform team purpose. You now have the tools in your hands to document and design a platform architecture, followed by end-user examples for different platforms. This chapter gave you additional perspectives on the capabilities of platforms. With the approach of the TVP, you learned how to focus on single milestones without overarching and to adapt faster to the demands. Finally, we introduced you to a couple of approaches to measure your platform adoption and performance metrics.

In Chapter 3, we will discuss the details of building the foundation for platforms. First, we will introduce you to our reference and example company and explain certain details. You will learn about infrastructure foundations, multi-cloud and Software as a Service (SaaS) challenges, and creating a reference architecture for the foundation.
