The Kotlin standard library is another feature of the language that makes it nicer to use in the daily programmer life. The library builds heavily on the Java standard library, in fact, it doesn't add many new types, rather, it adds new functionality with functions. It offers extensions functions that extend the Java standard library types or utility functions that can be used with any type.
We've already seen a lot of types and functions from the standard library (arrays, basic types, and more), and, in this chapter, we'll first learn about collections and see the most useful functions for working with collections. Then we'll take a look at the standard library functions.
In this chapter we will cover these topics :Â
- Collections
- Working with collections
- Kotlin standard library functions
