Performing CRUD operations using JDBC
In this recipe, you will learn how to populate, read, change, and delete data in the using JDBC.
Getting ready
We have already seen examples of SQL statements that create (populate) data in the database:
INSERT INTO table_name (column1,column2,column3,...) VALUES (value1,value2,value3,...);
We've also seen examples of instances where several table records have to be added:
INSERT INTO table_name (column1,column2,column3,...) VALUES (value1,value2,value3, ... ), (value21,value22,value23, ...), ( ... );
If a column has a default value specified, there is no need to list it in the INSERT INTO
statement, unless a different value has to be inserted.
The reading of the data from the database is done by a SELECT
statement:
SELECT column_name,column_name FROM table_name WHERE some_column=some_value;
Here's a general definition of the WHERE
clause:
WHERE column_name operator value Operator: = Equal <> Not equal. In some...
