Rendering 3D polyhedrons and wireframe spheres
This recipe will show us how to render 3D geometric objects using the 3D Polyhedron and Wireframe sphere extensions.
How to do it...
The following steps will show you how to render 3D objects and wireframes:
1. Open the 3D Polyhedron dialog by going to Extensions | Render | 3D Polyhedron....
2. Under Object: select Truncated Cube from the drop-down menu.
3. Under Object Type select Face-Specified.
4. On the View tab set Rotate around: to Y-Axis and Rotation, degrees to 20.
5. Set the following Then rotate around: to X-Axis and Rotation, degrees to 20.
6. Under the Style tab set Fill opacity, % to 60, Stroke width, px to 4. Make sure Shading is ticked. Set Light Z to -1, Show: to Faces and tick Draw back-facing polygons.
7. Leave the other options as default and press Apply. The truncated cube will be created in the center of the visible Canvas.
8. Open the Wireframe Sphere dialog by going to Extensions | Render | Wireframe Sphere....
