Persisting Data with Entity Framework

Many applications rely on databases to store and query data. Even though there are many types of databases, including graph, key-value stores, document, relational, and so on, in this book, we will use the good old relational database (also known as RDBMS). Relational databases are the oldest and most popular type of databases, and although they may not be the best solution for every type of use case, they most certainly do a very good job in most types of applications, and they have a very mature ecosystem and set of tools.
