Summary
MDX is a very powerful language used to query Analysis Services cubes. It is a positional language meaning that you position yourself within the multidimensional space in a cube; you do this by creating tuples by defining the unique names of the members. This chapter also showed how you could create calculations and sets and reference them through names in your queries.
This chapter also covered Excel as a querying tool, a very powerful tool that can be used to create nice looking reports. You also have the ability to use tools like Reporting Services to query your cubes.
In the next chapter, we will add some more complex capabilities to the cube such as KPIs and calculations.
