Technical requirements
Because iMovie for iOS and iPadOS has more customizability in its titles than the macOS version, we’ll be focusing on Macintosh in this chapter. However, the method shown here should be transferable if you want to create static custom titles using Keynote (the first technique we cover) on mobile devices.
As we’re creating titles and animations from scratch, you can follow along with all the steps as long as you have Keynote open. One animation exercise has a Keynote file you can work with, and that can be found in Chapter 7
: Keynote Car Animation
in the book resources. To access features such as dynamic backgrounds, you will need Keynote version 12.1, which requires macOS 11.0 (Big Sur) or later. Keynote is a default Macintosh app: if it’s not on your Macintosh computer, you’ll just need to go to the Mac App Store to download it.
