Unfolding the data and analytics project approach
To be successful and manage data and analytics projects, we need a strategy that includes more than just a mix of project methods. A data and analytics project should always begin with a business question and from a business standpoint. When we examine organizations systematically, we can identify four approaches for data and analytics projects that we should include in our project strategy:
- Vertical-driven: The strategic objectives are leading
- Horizontal-driven: The core processes are taking the lead
- Market-driven: The market in which an organization specializes is leading
- Data-driven: When we don’t know where to begin, we let the data guide us
