Summary
This chapter covered the details of how data is stored in the data lake and the data serving layer. In the first section, we covered how data is stored in the data lake layer. In the next section, we discussed the different types of datastores within the data lake and how they interact. We also delved into the different formats we can use to store data in a data lake and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of each of these formats.
In the next section, we focussed on the data serving layer. We explored SQL-based data serving stores, NoSQL-based serving stores, and the methods of data sharing. Finally, we examined the use cases and technologies for each of the different components in the data serving layer.
The next chapter will focus on data analytics, where we will cover the different types of analytics and the components used to derive insights from data.
