Troubleshooting scenarios

IP addressing issues on networking devices

Network devices that exclusively use IP addresses for communications are routers and servers. There may be situations when on these devices, IP addresses are assigned by DHCP; however, that is rare. Usually, these devices have static IP addresses and are assigned by the network administrator. From that, if a router does not have assigned IP addresses on its network interfaces, then two or more networks cannot communicate with each other.
