Installing the Update Manager Download Service on Linux

Most vSphere environments do no expose vCenter Server to the internet. Since Update Manager runs as a service on the VCSA, it doesn't have access to the internet either. In such cases, we can configure what VMware calls an Update Manager Download Service on a Windows or Linux machine that has internet access to download patches.

In this recipe, we will learn how to install and configure the Update Manager Download Service (UMDS) on a Linux machine running Ubuntu 18.0.4.
