Moving day – getting ready to migrate
Moving from an old house to a new one can be equally exciting and exhausting. There are so many details to manage to make the move a success. Things have to be packaged with care so that nothing gets broken; movers have to be hired, schedules have to be coordinated, and items have to be unpacked over time and put in just the right spot in the new place. A successful move must follow a series of steps in the right order, which means we need to start with a good plan.
SharePoint migrations are very much like that move to a new place. In my experience, these migrations have usually been one of three varieties:
- On-premises to cloud
- Tenant to tenant
- File server to cloud
