Chapter 3. Troubleshooting a Web Application

In the first and second chapters of this book, we covered the troubleshooting process, common locations for information, and useful troubleshooting commands. In this chapter, we will run through an example problem that has been created in order to demonstrate multiple troubleshooting and remediation steps. In particular, we will look at the steps required to troubleshoot issues with web-based applications.

Throughout this chapter, I will go through each step of the troubleshooting process and explain the reasoning behind each step. While the problem that this chapter covers may not be an extremely common issue, it is important to look at the process and tools used. The process and tools used in this chapter can be applied to most web application issues.
