Summary
In this chapter we have created a logical standby database using an existing physical standby database and verified redo transport and SQL Apply services. Then we practiced several customizations on the logical standby database.
Installing a robust Data Guard logical standby configuration and customizing the environment to achieve the best performance and effectiveness are the main role of the Database Administrator. The logical standby database offers many more customization possibilities when compared with the physical standby database. This fact makes its success more dependent on the configuration and customization.
The following chapter will show you how the Data Guard broker is configured and used to monitor and manage the Data Guard environment.
