Export bundle

Once we have the .jar file on our 11g system, we can run it to create the export bundle that contains all of our OBIEE and Publisher objects. The command is as follows:

$JDK_HOME/bin/java -jar bi-migration-tool.jar out $ORACLE_HOME $DOMAIN_HOME ./12import.jar

Note

Remember to change the direction of the slash marks for Windows.

The following is a breakdown of this command:

  • The out tells the tool to run in Export mode
  • ORACLE_HOME is the Oracle_BI directory inside Middleware
  • DOMAIN_HOME is normally the user_projects/domains/bi directory inside Middleware
  • ./12import.jar is the name and location of the .jar file that holds our 11g objects. In our example, we have placed the .jar file in our current directory, but we could replace that command with another file location

Once run, you will see output at the command line as the tool logs into the 11g system and performs the export. At the end of this process, you should see the following messages:

  • Export succeeded
  • Migration action succeeded...
