Who this book is for
My intention for this book was for it to serve as a bridge between computer science and the social sciences. I want both sides to benefit, not just one. My hopes are that software engineers will learn useful tools and techniques from the social sciences, as I have, and also that those in the social sciences will be able to scale up their ideas and research using software engineering. Data scientists will also find this book useful for going deeper into network analysis.
However, this book will not just be useful to social scientists, software engineers, and data scientists. Influence happens all around us. Understanding how to measure influence or map the flow of ideas can be very useful in many fields.
