Personal charts are created by users within the user interface of a model-driven app. Personal charts are owned by their creator and are only visible to their owners. Like personal views, personal charts can be shared with users and teams.
Users can also export their chart to an XML file and pass the file to an administrator to import as a system chart. Charts are the only component you can convert from a personal component into a system component.
It is often difficult to work out how a chart will appear once you have lots of data. One way to create a chart is to create the chart in the live system as a personal chart, export the chart to XML, and then import the chart into your solution in your development environment.
Charts show data in real time and are useful to show users their current workload. Charts are very often added to dashboards.
