Chapter 12: Exposing Insights from Data
To get the most value out of your Power BI reports and dashboards, you'll want to make sure they answer the questions that are most valuable to your organization. Sometimes, that means you need to reduce the data that you're looking at, to best focus on specific elements of a dataset and best understand how those elements relate to others. Usually, this means that we're analyzing subsets of data or sets of records. For example, maybe our entire dataset includes sales from across the United States, but we want to understand the volume of sales for each state or only within one state. By doing this, we'll be able to draw insights from the data that are harder to find otherwise.
In this chapter, we'll look at the ways insights can be exposed from data in Power BI reports and dashboards. We will cover the following topics:
- Exploring slicers and filters
- The Analytics pane
