Control Flow
When I was a teen, every month while I was learning BASIC programming on my Commodore Vic-20, I would read several of the early computer magazines, such as Byte Magazine. I remember one particular review for a game called Zork. While Zork was not a game that was available for my Vic-20, the concept of the game fascinated me because I was really into sci-fi and fantasy. I remember thinking how cool it would be to write a game like that, so I decided to figure out how to do it. One of the biggest concepts that I had to grasp at that time was how to control the flow of the application depending on the user's actions.
In this chapter, we will cover the following topics:
- What conditional statements are and how to use them
- What loops are and how to use them
- What control transfer statements are and how to use them
