This book describes in detail the installation and configuration of the Veeam One software. From monitoring to generating reports. This book describes these steps in detail. Best practices and deep troubleshooting steps are very basic and won't provide the reader with much guidance. For the novice user of the software this is however a good start and gives you more insight in the product.

For those environments requiring administrative and reporting functionality for virtual environments, Veaam ONE is a fantastic product for that. The book begins with an introduction and instruction on downloading, installing, and initial configuration of the ONE product. The book continues with a discussion on the layout and data presented in the various views. Discussion of setting up reports, monitoring, and dashboards is given at a very high overview. As all administrators and engineers will attest, reports are almost a never-ending request from management. As a result, the author continues with a whole chapter devoted to discussing the reporting capabilities of ONE. A very brief overview of ONE Business View is presented, as well as the chapter on Best Practices.Overall, I think it's a valiant effort at presenting Veeam ONE. My biggest criticism would be that the Business View and Best Practices chapters are so short. To me, those are much more important than the other chapters (say, the installation and step-by-step walk-through with images). The other criticism is that, based on the release date of this book, Veeam ONE v8 was released at this time, so the book is already a version behind. While the underpinnings of the software should be similar, the reader might wish to have the most recent version presented (particularly based on the book's release date). That being said, the data is well-presented and the images and writing style are easy to follow.

I can recommend this book to anyone looking for a first introduction to Veeam One. It takes the reader by the hand and leads him through the installation, setup, and first use ...However, it’s not up-to-date with the latest version of Veeam One, since it covers Veeam One v7. It also could be a little more in-depth in the last two chapters on Veeam One Business View and Best Practives.
