Using the Vignette effect


Vignette is a French word to describe many things, but in photography, it is used to describe an unintended and undesired effect caused by the camera settings, where the corners of an image are darker when compared to the centre. Vignette is an effect that occurs naturally, and it can be rather strong or hardly noticeable; this is related to the lens used. Lumion has the same effect that can be used in our projects. Let's see how we can use it, and at the same time, why we can use this effect.

Getting ready

To use this recipe, you need to open the Movie mode and select a clip to add the effect to a movie or open the Photo mode if you want to add this effect to an image.

How to do it…

  1. In the Movie or Photo mode, add a new effect using the New effect button.

  2. Open the Artistic tab and select the Vignette effect.

  3. This is a very simple effect with only two settings, as shown in the following screenshot:
