Backwards compatibility for Joomla! 2.5
The code we have used in the previous example is all available in Joomla! 2.5, so we can install this same module on a Joomla! 2.5 site and it should work. We will change the version attribute to indicate that this module will work on Joomla! 2.5.5 or greater. In fact, this module isn't using any legacy MVC classes, so it would also work on earlier versions of Joomla! 2.5, but it's a good idea to put the oldest version of Joomla! you have tested this on and are willing to support.
Making changes to the installation XML file
Edit the file /administrator/modules/mod_latestextensions/mod_latestextensions.xml and make the following highlighted changes.
