Setting the regulatory compliance scene in the FSI
This chapter is dedicated to what you might call a sensitive and misconceived concept in relation to DevOps evolutions: the notorious regulatory compliance! As we mentioned in Chapter 1, The Banking Context and DevOps Value Proposition the main actor of this book is a systemically important bank of global scale. Our incumbent, due to its size, scale of operations, and importance in terms of global financial stability, is inevitably subject to significant regulatory demand. Especially following the global economic impact of the 2008 financial crisis (especially the collapse of Lehman Brothers), as well as the rapid technological advancements of the past decade, the regulatory demand has become tougher.
