Facial recognition is gaining attention in a variety of applications. As with any system, there are benefits and drawbacks.

Let’s start with listing the benefits of FRT.

Acknowledging the benefits

Facial recognition is an optimal biometric, as it’s unobtrusive and can track individuals at a distance. Using FRT can be used in a variety of situations and can operate covertly, without the cooperation of the individual. As a result, FRT is great for surveillance and law enforcement.

As the technology improves, FRT can provide an economical solution for identification and authentication. The technology can assist in locating missing and/or exploited children along with disoriented elderly patients.
