Initial requirements

There are some initial requirements that need to be met in order to update deployment without an issue. The mentioned requirements need to be met on both the server side as well as on the managed endpoints side.

Server requirements

The base requirement is to use the WSUS server in version 4.0, which is available only on Windows Server 2012 or higher. The 4.0 version of WSUS works properly when it comes to updating and upgrading Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016.

Server WSUS (3.0), available on Windows Server 2008 R2, is not capable of working with Windows Update deployments. It will not be possible to deploy feature upgrades to new Windows 10 versions.
