These are the best practices that should be followed for monitoring infrastructure:
- Datadog provides lots of metrics that cover various aspects of compute, storage, and network monitoring out of the box. Make sure that you only focus on the important metrics from each category.
- Containers are becoming core constructs of the infrastructure that hosts modern applications. If microservices are used, it is important to monitor the containers and obtain insights that could be used to fine-tune the performance and availability of applications.
- Aggregating the processes would make it easy to compare runtime environments, and that feature must be enabled.
- Though there is no infrastructure to manage in serverless computing, Datadog provides options for monitoring the application functions that should be enabled for tracking the related metrics.
