Accessing and querying system tables using Unity Catalog
System tables are an analytical store hosted by Databricks that contains your account’s operational data. You can use system tables to track the history of your account. System tables enable you to gain operational insights for data and AI on the lakehouse by letting you observe, audit, and report on various aspects of your Databricks usage and billing:
- Audit logs: Includes records for all audit events across your Databricks account, such as user actions, cluster events, job runs, and notebook executions
- Table and column lineage: Includes records for each read or write event on a Unity Catalog table or path, as well as the source and destination columns involved in the event
- Billable usage: Includes records for all billable usage across your account, such as cluster hours, node types, and SKUs
