Learning about supply chain continuity
Supply chain continuity is a subset of BC and is an often-overlooked side of BC. While businesses will look at the internal aspects of their business when assessing levels of risk and creating ways to safeguard their business in case of security incidents, they fail to look at the entire supply chain to determine the risks that emanate from the supply chain and plan for continuity of the supply chain in the case of security incidents. A business needs to invest in resources for the monitoring and evaluation of the entire supply chain for cybersecurity threats that may result from it. After assessing the entire supply chain and determining the cybersecurity threats that the supply chain causes the business, the next step is to prioritize these threats and decide on risks that are tolerable based on a BIA.
