OK, this is my favorite function of IPv6. When two end devices make up or receive an IPv6 address, they send DAD, using NDP NS to see if someone has the same address as they do. It is sent not once but three times. I'm all for troubleshooting, verifying, and so on, but when you have one IPv6 network that can hold 15 quintillion IPv6 addresses, the odds of duplicating the IP address are slim to non-existent.
But hey, we thank you for putting that functionality within IPv6.
