Understanding the 802.11n, ac, and ax Wi-Fi PHY and MAC enhancements supported in ns-3
In order to improve wireless spectrum utilization and offer higher bit rates to Wi-Fi users, 802.11n, ac, and ax come with various enhancements at the PHY and MAC layers. In this section, readers will be introduced to ns-3 supporting 802.11n, ac, and ax PHY layer enhancements, and ns-3 MAC layers enhancements related to the 802.11n, ac, and ax standards will also be discussed.
ns-3 802.11n, ac, and ax support the following enhancements:
- Channel bonding
- Only Single-User MIMO (SU-MIMO)
- OFDM and higher MCSes
Besides the aforementioned features, only 802.11ax supports the following:
- OFDMA for resource scheduling
- BSS coloring for dense deployment with frequency reuse 1
Note that ns-3.36 does not support the following enhancements related to the 802.11n, ac, and ax standards:
- 802.11n, ac, and ax beamforming
- 802.11ac and ax Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO...
