vSphere HA uses datastore heartbeating to check the liveliness of a host if it cannot be reached over the management network. This is enabled by default and cluster datastores are automatically chosen, this can also be user configured.

How to do it...
- Log in to the vSphere Web Client with the relevant privileges. Navigate to the specific cluster | Configuration | vSphere Availability.
- Click on Heartbeat Datastores shown in the following screenshot:
- Click on Automatically select datastores accessible from the host.
