Conventions used
There are a number of text conventions used throughout this book.
Code in text
: Indicates code words in text, database table names, folder names, filenames, file extensions, pathnames, dummy URLs, user input, and Twitter handles. Here is an example: “The Go toolchain provides the single go test
command for running all the tests that we have defined.”
A block of code is set as follows:
func(e *Engine) Add(x, y float64) float64{ return x + y }
When we wish to draw your attention to a particular part of a code block, the relevant lines or items are set in bold:
func TestAdd(t *testing.T) { e := calculator.Engine{} x, y := 2.5,3.5 want := 6.0 got := e.Add(x,y) if got != want { t.Errorf("Add(%.2f,%.2f) incorrect, got: %.2f, want: %.2f", x, y, got, want) } }
Any command-line input or output is written as follows:
$ go test -run TestDivide ./chapter04/table -v
Bold: Indicates a new term, an important word, or words that you see onscreen. For instance, words in menus or dialog boxes appear in bold. Here is an example: “Select System info from the Administration panel.”
