Changing RPZ configuration settings from the command line


Now that we are quickly becoming command-line masters, let's see what sort of hacking we can do with the Raspberry Pi configuration. We've done a little of this before with the USB OTG hacks; let's find out what other interesting settings we can change in the system.

Getting ready

We're going to continue working from the terminal and do a few things that aren't possible in raspi-config.

How to do it...

  1. The key file to edit the Raspberry Pi Zero's startup configuration is /boot/config.txt. Let's take a look at the entire file. We have already edited that to enable USB OTG gadget functionality, but there are a ton of settings that can be added to it. Let's add the following to the config.txt file. It is a good idea to make a backup copy if you haven't already. Append the following settings to the bottom of the config.txt file:

    gpu_mem=96
    

  2. After rebooting, the GPU memory will be increased from the default of 64 MB to 96 MB. This gives a...
