Chapter 6. Curtain Automation – Open and Close the Curtains Based on the Ambient Light
In this chapter, we will be looking at how to use a photoresistor and a motor shield in conjunction with our Raspberry Pi. Once these are combined into a single device, it can be used to open and close blinds or curtains. We will also introduce the use of the Arduino to Raspberry Pi connection bridge shield.
You will need the following for this chapter:
- The Raspberry Pi
- The Arduino to Raspberry Pi connection bridge shield
- A breadboard
- Wires
- resistor
- A photoresistor
- An Arduino motor shield
- A 9V battery and a battery connector
- A flathead screwdriver
- A flashlight
- A 9V DC motor and an optional 12V DC motor
- A 12V wall wart if you use a 12V motor
