Key benefits

  • Learn how to create scalable and maintainable applications
  • Build a web system for micro messaging using concepts in the book
  • Use profiling to find bottlenecks and improve the speed of the system

Description

Developing large-scale systems that continuously grow in scale and complexity requires a thorough understanding of how software projects should be implemented. Software developers, architects, and technical management teams rely on high-level software design patterns such as microservices architecture, event-driven architecture, and the strategic patterns prescribed by domain-driven design (DDD) to make their work easier. This book covers these proven architecture design patterns with a forward-looking approach to help Python developers manage application complexity—and get the most value out of their test suites. Starting with the initial stages of design, you will learn about the main blocks and mental flow to use at the start of a project. The book covers various architectural patterns like microservices, web services, and event-driven structures and how to choose the one best suited to your project. Establishing a foundation of required concepts, you will progress into development, debugging, and testing to produce high-quality code that is ready for deployment. You will learn about ongoing operations on how to continue the task after the system is deployed to end users, as the software development lifecycle is never finished. By the end of this Python book, you will have developed "architectural thinking": a different way of approaching software design, including making changes to ongoing systems.

Who is this book for?

This book will help software developers and architects understand the structure of large complex systems and adopt architectural patterns that are scalable. Examples in the book are implemented in Python so a fair grasp of basic Python concepts is expected. Proficiency in any programming languages such as Java or JavaScript is sufficient.

What you will learn

  • Think like an architect, analyzing software architecture patterns
  • Explore API design, data storage, and data representation methods
  • Investigate the nuances of common architectural structures
  • Utilize and interoperate elements of patterns such as microservices
  • Implement test-driven development to perform quality code testing
  • Recognize chunks of code that can be restructured as packages
  • Maintain backward compatibility and deploy iterative changes

As a data scientist I have been exposed more to productionizing code more within the past couple of yours. There is a lot to learn and I found this book a great help to understand best practises and what is available. The book covers a lot of areas and dives deep into concepts however I find the build up in explaining topics and the examples given are very accessible, even for someone like me who is not from a software engineering background.I've covered the first three chapters of part IV so far, logging, metrics and profiling and am already bring them into my day to day work. would definitely recommend to anyone trying to up their game in developing production ready code.

This book has some advanced topics yet it is a good book for the not so advanced how ever you should be “conformable reading” Python. The book provides a link to not only some code but also downloadable screenshots and diagrams that are used in the book. Of course, it takes a practical approach to coding not just for now, but give thought as to allow for future growth of the programs. It also gives though to defining the structure of the code but also the security aspects of the software architecture.

python architecture patterns is an excellent book that covers different aspects of software architecture and delves deeper into several other related concepts (design philosophy, architectural patterns, design implementation and testing, verification and validation) in great details mostly targeting web services. The impressive things about the book is the practicality and relevance it brings to the understanding today's architecture of complex systems. The author also suggests various tools and techniques to achieve this. There is also a lot of code samples to complement the learning and strengthen the underlying concepts. I enjoyed reading the section about Twelve-Factor App methodology, that provides some recommendations that are well proven for web services. These are definitely useful knowledge that can be applied to other areas to improve efficiency in the design cycle of any product/service.I would highly recommend this book to any software developer who like to get a detailed understanding of the challenges of designing complex systems and how to approach it with the tools provided in the book.

The approach of this book is something I have been wanting to see for some time. It is ideal for engineering students that are expected to solve physical tasks. It is not flooded with warehouse or payroll examples that do not apply in most engineering cases.Excellent reference book for not only Python learning, but coding in general.

Can I download the code files for Early Access titles? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon

We try to ensure that all books in Early Access have code available to use, download, and fork on GitHub. This helps us be more agile in the development of the book, and helps keep the often changing code base of new versions and new technologies as up to date as possible. Unfortunately, however, there will be rare cases when it is not possible for us to have downloadable code samples available until publication.

When we publish the book, the code files will also be available to download from the Packt website.

How accurate is the publication date? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon

The publication date is as accurate as we can be at any point in the project. Unfortunately, delays can happen. Often those delays are out of our control, such as changes to the technology code base or delays in the tech release. We do our best to give you an accurate estimate of the publication date at any given time, and as more chapters are delivered, the more accurate the delivery date will become.

How will I know when new chapters are ready? Chevron down icon Chevron up icon

We'll let you know every time there has been an update to a course that you've bought in Early Access. You'll get an email to let you know there has been a new chapter, or a change to a previous chapter. The new chapters are automatically added to your account, so you can also check back there any time you're ready and download or read them online.
