Working from basic shapes
With 3D modeling, it’s a good idea to start simple. This lets you work out the basic shape of your model without having to worry about the details.
The shape you start from is a matter of opinion. Most shapes can be made into other shapes, but sometimes, starting with the right primitive shape can be a timesaver.
It’s possible to start from any shape, but that’s not always the best option. You want to start out with a shape that’s similar to the thing you’re trying to make. That way, you have to do as little work as possible.
So, try to choose a primitive shape that makes sense for whatever it is you’re making.
In this case, it makes a lot of sense to start from a cylinder, since the mushroom you’re making is mostly round.
So, let’s begin!
