Summary

In this chapter, our aim was to give you a feel of the internal workings of the networks and communication protocols using which Particle devices are deployed. New ways to connect various Particle devices and enable integration between them have been presented. We also described how to set up a P2P network using the VoodooSpark firmware and Cylon.js module, which will be used extensively for the projects in the upcoming chapters. We presented you with instructions to deploy a local server instance of Particle cloud, which can be used for near real-time communication between various devices by removing the need for moving the data to the Internet and back. Finally, we ended the chapter with an introduction to other popular protocols and architectures which are in place for IoT devices and deserve looking into.
