One major difference in authentication requirements between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 is the use of passwords. In Web 1.0, passwords were not widely needed as a means of authentication. However, with the increasing number of online transactions and the need to protect sensitive information in Web 2.0, passwords became an important security measure used to protect access to our online accounts, including bank accounts, medical records, and social media profiles.
