The geographically dispersed Db2 pureScale cluster (GDPC) is a configuration that allows a Db2 pureScale cluster to be distributed, where members of a cluster are at different datacenters serving HA and DR in one solution.
A GDPC typically consists of the following:
- Two or more Db2 pureScale data members
- Two cluster caching (CF) facilities (one in each data center)
- SAN-attached cluster storage running IBM Spectrum Scale (formerly called GPFS)
- A dedicated network channel between Db2 members and CFs
The following diagram shows a simple GDPC setup:
Geographically dispersed Db2 pureScale Cluster architecture
In GDPC setup, half the Db2 pureScale cluster members and CFs will be located at one site and the other half will be at another site. For tie breaking and transparent failover in the event of a site failure, a third site...
