Exploring a reference network solution

This section will explore a reference solution for cloud modernization, focusing on the networking components. The cloud provider often provides basic connectivity. However, it can also provide capabilities and services for connectivity, security, reliability, and operations. An efficient network reference solution needs to include essential components or services from cloud service providers to ensure a solution for all functional and non-functional requirements, as discussed in the previous section of this chapter. For example, Figure 7.2 shows the different network components and services used in the cloud solution provided by IBM Cloud. IBM recommends several services for network solutions based on different customer requirements:
