Summary


In this chapter, we learned that we need to create an LOV when the user is prompted to select one or more values for a specific dimension or attribute. Then we learned how to create different types of LOVs such as LOVs based on dimensions, static LOVs, and LOVs based on custom SQL.

In the second part, we discussed navigation paths, formally known as hierarchies. We used navigation paths to define the drill path object either based on the hierarchical order of dimensions inside a folder (default navigation path) or based on a customized order specified by the Universe designer.

After that, we learned how to use the index awareness feature by defining primary and foreign keys to make the IDT aware of the indexed column and to use it to fine tune the performance of SQL statements generated from reports and queries. Then we also learned how to use the aggregate awareness function to enhance the performance of our queries, using the summarized tables whenever possible. Then we had an overview...
