This chapter only showed you a brief overview of the new remote poller concept in Cacti. To fully utilize this new feature, you will also have to make sure that you keep the systems in sync regarding your scripts and local configuration files like the WMI user credentials. As your system grows, you will have to review some of the settings, especially the boost values.
The new feature allows you to distribute the load of polling your devices and therefore increasing the number of devices you can poll. Keep in mind that the database and disk drives on the master system are sized in a way that they can handle the additional load each remote poller puts on it.
In case you run into any issues, you should check the Cacti forum or the Cacti GitHub repository for any information regarding your issue and ask for help if required.
