Chapter 3. Coordinate Systems
Along with visualization, the creation of other working planes is imperative for proper 3D modeling. Frequently, we have to create objects that are not aligned with the current working plane. Instead of creating and aligning them to the final position, sometimes it is much faster to define the correct working plane and only then proceed to create objects. We must not forget that an important part of AutoCAD commands work only in 2D (the XY plane).
In this chapter, we will cover:
The world coordinate system
How to create and apply user coordinate systems
The UCS command
Creating UCS by moving and orienting the icon
When and how to apply dynamic coordinate systems
Coordinate system icons
Important variables to know
