MCMS does not ship with a search engine. You can choose from the myriad of third-party search engines out there; or employ a ready-to-use solution that integrates with MCMS, such as Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server.
When evaluating a search engine for MCMS, the most critical criterion to fulfill is the ability to index pages whose content is dynamically generated. Third-party search engines that use spiders/robots to crawl web pages are well suited for MCMS-based sites. Be aware that not all search engines are able to crawl authenticated sites: if you are implementing Windows authentication or forms-based authentication, ensure that your search engine of choice supports it.
