Building a room using imported AutoCAD elevations
We are often given drafted elevations with interior architectural elements already drawn. In this chapter, we will show you how to use imported AutoCAD elevations to build a living room, complete with interior details such as baseboards, crown molding, a fireplace, and more.
Let’s get started by setting up a SketchUp file with imported AutoCAD elevations.
Setting up the elevations

. You will see imported AutoCAD elevations on the left and an imported AutoCAD plan on the right when you open the file. (Review Chapter 4 for how to import a DWG/DXF file into SketchUp.) This is what the model looks like when opened:
